The best green smoothie bottle ever
If you want to drink your green smoothies on the run (and let’s face it, with our busy schedules, who doesn’t?) then having an awesome green smoothie bottle is an absolute must.
And I think I’ve discovered the best green smoothie bottle ever!
They’re called the Aladdin AVEO water bottle and I simply love them, for lots of reasons.
So now I know exactly what to look for when finding a great green smoothie container.
Here’s six features of my favourite smoothie bottles that you’ll want to look for when choosing your perfect green smoothie bottle:
1. They’re unbreakable
I’ve seen lots of people using large glass jars for carrying their green smoothies around, and although it might be a healthier, more sustainable choice, for ol’ fumble fingers (that’s me btw), glass is just never going to work.
And I use these with my kids’ green smoothies, so safety is super important.
These bottles are made from a shatter-resistant BPA-free plastic, which suits me very well.
I’ve dropped them a few times already, and the worst that’s happened is a scratched surface.
No wasted smoothie, no broken green smoothie container and no mess to clean up.
I’m sure if you hurled them hard enough against a firm surface, you might do some serious damage, but fortunately that was never part of my plan.
2. They’re BPA-free
This was the next most important thing when I was searching high and low for the perfect green smoothie bottle.
Sure, I want it unbreakable, which generally means “plastic”, but I’m not keen on drinking plastic molecules, so my smoothie containers definitely had to be BPA free.
Which these are. Awesome.
3. They’re easy to clean
I tried some other bottles that were supposedly designed for green smoothies, but they were really hard to clean.
Narrow necks that I couldn’t fit a bottle brush into, fiddly bits on the caps that I couldn’t get clean, all kinds of silly stuff that made them less than practical.
And so I ended up with stained, smelly and altogether useless bottles.
But not these ones.
They have a nice wide neck and come into three pieces, so you can clean every part of them properly.
I use a bottle brush for the main bottle and a toothbrush for the lid parts, and they scrub up nicely.
You can also put them in the dishwasher (even better!) which I have done on occasion, but usually I need them for the next green smoothie before the dishwasher’s even run, so I just end up washing them by hand.
No green smoothie monsters lurking in the corners any more for me!
4. They’re waterproof
It seems kind of obvious, but if you’re going to be carrying your green smoothie around in one of these bottles, then you kind of don’t want it to leak.
And provided you screw the lid on firmly, they’re fantastically leak-proof.
(Note: If you let the kids “help” with screwing the lids on, make sure you tighten them up afterwards. Speaking from experience here.)
5. They’re easy to use
These green smoothie bottles are super easy to fill. Just take the spout and lid off entirely and fill her up.
You can also drink your smoothie through the spout, or take the whole lot off and scull the lot (if you’re in a hurry that is).
Super flexible – I love it!
And they’re easy enough to use that my kids can use them too.
I do have to loosen the lid for my 3-year-old, but otherwise my kids are champions at self-service on the green smoothie front, which is just the way I like it.
6. They’re not just great green smoothie bottles
These bottles are awesome for all kinds of liquids, not just green smoothies.
They come in 350ml and 600ml sizes, and we also use them for juices, raw nut milks, coconut water and plain ol’ water.
I’m sure they’d be good for whatever liquids you want to cart around with you.
They’re just so darned handy!
What I don’t like about them
I’ll confess, there’s not much I don’t like about these smoothie bottles.
I own LOTS of them, after all.
But in the spirit of balance, here’s a couple of things that make them less than absolutely perfect:
- They can get stained by certain things. I don’t have much trouble with simple green smoothies or juices, but we have found that smoothies with extras like green or purple powders or oils (like flax, hemp or DHA) do seem to stain the bottles more readily.
- Sometimes I don’t get every single skerrick of smoothie out of the inside of the cap when I’m cleaning it with the toothbrush, but I suspect that’s more down to my slap-dash approach than anything else. Rinsing them thoroughly with water as soon as you’ve downed your smoothie is definitely an important time-saver.
- As they get older (we’re talking 4 years down the track here in 2017), I’ve found that they do start to leak a little if the contents start to warm up (which expands the air gap inside and pushes the contents out slowly). I’m guessing that the nice seal between the bottle and the cap thread gets a little “less than perfect” over time.
So what makes for a great green smoothie bottle?
This isn’t just a rave about how fabulous the Aladdin AVEO water bottles are, it’s also a really handy list of all the things that make for a great green smoothie container.
It’s reasonably likely that you won’t be able to find these exact bottles in your local kitchen store, so instead, try to find something with the all of the same great features.
Here’s my wishlist for the perfect green smoothie bottle:
- Unbreakable
- BPA-free
- Easy to clean – Wide neck, easy to disassemble
- Waterproof – No leaks!
- Easy to use – Easy to fill, easy to open, easy to drink from
- Versatile – Suit a range of liquids
So, is it time to go and find yourself the perfect green smoothie bottle?
Have an awesome, green-smoothie-drinking day!

Sounds great! I just did a Google search and I’m wondering where you buy them for the best price. I couldn’t even find them on Amazon!
Nikki says
Hi Regina,
That would depend on where you are in the world. Honestly, I don’t know where to get them anywhere other than in my own backyard (Melbourne, Australia). I don’t find lots of options when I search for them either (search for ‘Aladdin Aveo Water Bottle’), but perhaps you could contact the manufacturer directly and see where to buy them locally, or if they have any equivalent products for sale near you.
And I did expect that not everyone would have access to these great bottles, but if you can find one with all the same great features as per my list, then I’m sure it would be just as suitable for the job.

I noticed these while shopping specifically for smoothie bottles at a Canadian Target store. Agree they look very useful and I nearly bought two until I noticed they ‘Made in China’ sticker. Our household has been slowly eliminating China-made products for anything related to food preparation or storage.
Nikki says
Hi Donna,
That’s a shame. I guess it’s a question of priorities, and for me, the practical features win.
Hopefully you can find something made locally with all the same great features, and if you do, I’d love to hear about them.

These look good! Are they freezer-safe? I like to premake my smoothies and freeze them to take to work.
Nikki says
Hi Harriet,
Yes, I believe so. I’ve certainly frozen liquids in them (usually water) and they’ve been fine. I’ve never frozen my green smoothies in them, but I’m sure it would be pretty much the same.
Just take the usual precautions when freezing in containers ( leave a gap the top, loosen top slightly, etc) to make sure you don’t have any problems.

I’ve frozen spinach/berry/banana smoothies with no problems. Never done it with green smoothies but I see no reason why it would be different
Nikki says
That’s great to know. Sounds like green smoothies should freeze just fine. I’ll let you know if I try it.
Jenny says
Where do you buy these bottles in Melbourne Australia?
Nikki says
Hi Jenny,
I’ve bought mine consistently from General Trader stores in Melbourne.
Irene says
Looked around and found in Holland greenjump.nl
With lots of green products, bpa free and more
Nikki says
Hi Irene,
Awesome. I’m so glad you found some nearby. Thanks for letting us know.
